It applies to every visitor and client of the site and is written to meet the requirements of the EU General Data Protection Regulation and the French Data Protection Act (Loi Informatique et Libertés).

1. Who is responsible for your data
The controller for the purposes of this policy is Courchevel Luxury Car Rental, the brand under which courchevelluxurycarrental.fr is operated. We have no separately published company registration number, VAT number or office address; the quickest and most reliable way to reach us on any data protection matter is by email at [email protected].
2. What we gather, and how it reaches us
We receive personal data through several channels:
- the enquiry form, which asks for your name, email address, an optional phone number, the car you are interested in, pick-up and drop-off dates, a flight number if you use the airport delivery form, and any free-text message you add; the form also transmits the page URL and referrer so we know which request you are replying to;
- direct contact by email, phone or WhatsApp, including whatever you choose to tell us;
- a record created when you tap a WhatsApp button on the site: we log the page URL, referrer, language and the prefilled message text in our booking system before WhatsApp opens;
- standard server logs generated automatically when you browse the site, recording your IP address, the time, the page requested and your browser.
Two small pieces of browser storage support the site itself: a local-storage entry remembers that you closed the cookie notice, and a session-storage entry remembers which car you clicked so the enquiry form can be prefilled; the second is deleted when you close the tab or send the form. Neither stores any contact detail.
3. Why we use it, and on what basis
We use enquiry and contact data to answer your request, prepare a quote and, if you go ahead, to perform the rental, chauffeur service or wedding hire you have booked; this rests on the steps you ask us to take before a contract and on the contract itself once a booking is confirmed in writing.
Server logs and WhatsApp click records are kept for the security of the website and of our booking process, which is our legitimate interest, balanced against your right to privacy.
Where a booking proceeds, keeping certain records also fulfils a legal obligation under French tax and accounting rules. We do not use personal data for automated decision-making, we do not sell it, and we do not send marketing emails unless you ask us to.
4. Identity and licence details at handover
Bookings are never paid or finalised online: you send an enquiry, we reply with a written quote, and the rental is confirmed in writing. Once a rental is confirmed, we need to see the driver's driving licence and identity document at the point of handover, whether that is at Chambéry airport, Moutiers station, a residence, a hotel or our own premises in Courchevel. This check is necessary to confirm that whoever takes the wheel of one of our vehicles, from an Audi SQ7 to an Aston Martin DBX 707, is legally entitled to drive, and to protect both the client and the vehicle during the rental.
5. Who sees your data
Access is limited to those who need it to deal with your request or booking:
- our own team, who receive enquiries through an internal messaging tool linked to our booking system;
- the captain or driver assigned to carry out a chauffeured booking, wedding transfer or delivery, who needs your pick-up details and, where relevant, your flight number to perform the service;
- our hosting provider, which stores the static website and the booking system on our behalf;
- Google, which serves the web fonts used on the site and, in doing so, receives the visitor's IP address;
- the jsDelivr content delivery network, which supplies the intl-tel-input library used by the phone-number field in our forms;
- WhatsApp (Meta), if you choose to start a conversation with us through a WhatsApp button; that conversation then runs under WhatsApp's own privacy policy, not ours.
Neither Google Fonts nor jsDelivr sets cookies for us; they are used purely to deliver fonts and a form component correctly.
6. Transfers outside the European Union
Loading web fonts through Google and running conversations through WhatsApp can involve data reaching servers outside the European Economic Area. Where this happens, it is carried out by these providers under their own safeguards for international transfers; we do not separately export booking or enquiry data outside the EU ourselves.
7. How long we keep it
Enquiries that do not turn into a booking are deleted after 36 months. Once a booking is confirmed, the related records are kept for as long as French tax and accounting rules require us to retain them. Server logs are kept only for a short period for security purposes before being cleared.
8. Keeping it secure
We store enquiry and booking data in our own booking system rather than on publicly accessible parts of the site, and access is limited to the team members and drivers who need it to serve you. The website itself is a static site that does not set cookies and carries no analytics, advertising or social-media tracking scripts.
9. Your rights and how to use them
Under the GDPR and the Loi Informatique et Libertés, you can ask us to access, correct, delete or restrict the personal data we hold about you, object to our use of it on grounds relating to your situation, and ask for a copy in a portable format. To use any of these rights, write to [email protected]; we may ask you to confirm your identity before acting on the request, and we aim to respond within one month.
If you believe your data protection rights have not been respected, you can lodge a complaint with the Commission Nationale de l'Informatique et des Libertés (CNIL) at www.cnil.fr.
10. Children, and changes to this policy
Our cars, chauffeur service and wedding hire are offered to adults able to enter into a rental contract, and the site is not directed at children. If we become aware that a child's personal data has reached us without appropriate consent, we will delete it.
We may update this policy as our service in Courchevel evolves, for instance if we add a new form field or a new provider. The version published on courchevelluxurycarrental.fr is always the one that applies, and we encourage you to check it before sending us personal data if you have any doubt.
